Slow Day.

Wednesday, April 27, 2005

Slow day today, not much happening, no action. Finished a track, did some e-mails to my agents, and that's about it. What can you do, every day can't be an adventure. I could be logging video footage, but that's so tedious, I'm not in the mood for that right now. I'd fall asleep for sure. Got an e-mail from Fixmer today, he's coming to town this weekend and put me on the guest-list, that's something. Him and Shake are coming on the same night, two different clubs. I'll be bouncing.

I saw "Elektra" a couple of nights ago, it was bunk. I can see why it crashed at the box office. I fell asleep on it. The plot was half-baked, and Elektra defeated her enemies too easily. These guys were supposed to be deadly. For half the movie, Elektra wasn't even in her red superhero garb, either, not that the movie version of it was even like the comic, anyway. It pretty much turned out to be an episode of "Alias" with more kung-fu than usual (I never bought Jennifer Garner as Elektra, anyway, Elektra's supposed to be Greek in the comics, with dark hair and eyes). And I didn't see any credits to Frank Miller for creating Elektra, either (I was awake for the opening and closing credits).

That having been said, it was still better than "Catwoman," though.

Leave me some comments, spice up my day.

  • Bored? Read this book then mate: "Basquiat", by Phoebe Hoban. EXCELLENT stuff, easy&enjoyable to read, while being full of info... the best book I've read on Basquiat so far. I'm sure you'd love it, if you haven t already read it?

  • I got it when it first came out in hardcover, I think 2001? I buy everything on Basquiat I can get my hands on and can afford ;-)

  • Ah, I should have known. You posted a review of "Widow Basquiat" 2years ago I think... I still remember reading it on the benches of Hyde Park. Can you think of any other book on Basquiat worth checking out?

  • Hyde Park, huh? London or Chicago? Or is there another Hyde Park I don't know about? Anyway, there's one called "King For a Decade," Japanese import book in English, but it's out of print. I got it in '98 or so. Really well-designed and I've taken it on many a plane ride. Then there's the one from Taschen, they have books on many artists out. The Taschen books get their info from other books, though, so no new info. But there are some images in the Basquiat one that I'd never seen before, including the cover art. Taschen also did a Warhol one I've got, and I think they do French-language editions, too.

Then there are the art books, they're big and about $50 USD apiece. There are two that I know about, I've got them both.

You just know I like Basquiat, don't you ;-) I even named a track "Warhol vs. Basquiat" but you know that already.
