ALBA Berlin Game: 10/11/09.

Sunday, October 25, 2009

So Antje had tickets to the last ALBA Berlin game of the season and invited me to go! I'd never been to a ball game overseas so why not. Aside from language differences, not much different from an American game except the court's a little smaller than an NBA one. ALBA won the actual game, but they had to win by 10 in order to advance to the Euroleague playoffs. They didn't so Greece went on. The cheerleaders were hot. Wanted to get a pic with them but couldn't. O2 Arena itself was impressive as you can see. THANKS, ANTJE!

Not too many pics of this one as my camera was trippin'. But Piotr took some pics as you can see above. What can I say, not a big turnout on this one. That's showbiz. Good people and promoters, though. Didn't have much but the underground spirit and love of Detroit was definitely there. That's what I like.

Random Pics: Stockholm 10/17/09

Thursday, October 22, 2009

Last stop on tour. Was supposed to have gone home by this time but tour was extended! First time in Stockholm ever! Liked what little I saw of it. The promoters took me to an English-style pub in the middle of downtown where I had RIBS! Yes, a BBQ rib dinner with fries. I hadn't eaten that good since I'd left the States. Venue was underground! Looked to be a movie soundstage they had converted. Crowd was young, up-for-it and GOOD-LOOKING. Especially the Swedish women, my God. And they liked actual techno! Crazy. One guy came up and requested "Blaster!" A nice ego boost. Played hard on three decks (but not too fast!) and the kids loved it. Went 20 minutes over my time 'cause I didn't want to stop playing! Next afternoon after a late check-out, I was in a taxi to the airport back to go back to Berlin. Good times.

Random Shots: Warsaw 10/3/09

Warsaw was a blast despite a 12-hour, round-trip train ride from Berlin to get there. Those kids like a good techno show. Didn't get to hang out too much (as usual), but was treated to a nice traditional Polish meal (which was essentially wienerschnitzel). Venue was super-underground, an old basement of some sort. The promoter decorated it and made it look good as you can see. The light show made me look good. Olga is my self-appointed manager when I'm in town. She cracks the whip on people and looks good doing it. I wish I could take her with me as a tour manager (a real one, not a euphemism for a groupie, ha ha). She also took most of the shots you see here.

Random Shots: Sox Game 8/17/09 (Thanks, Jimmy!)

OK, so I am fresh off the plane coming home from TO when I get an e-mail from my friend Jimmy saying he's got a bunch of Sox tickets. My voice was non-existent due to a touch of the Swine Flu and I was kinda tired from the plane ride/gigging for two days. But it WAS a Sox game and I had never been to one before! Was invited to one in 2008, but like an idiot, I passed. So off on the Blue Line I went, and ended up having a blast! You can even catch a glimpse of my Chicago friends in the pics. Now you know who I hang out with.
