Tightrope.

Thursday, February 05, 2015

A little-known thing about me is that I have a love for old 1950s-60s TV shows. I like to have them on when I'm drawing or painting. This stuff is so old, it's new again.

For Throwback Thursday, here's a lost classic that has been unearthed by YouTube. Called "Tightrope," it stars Mike Connors as a cop in deep cover, eight years before "Mannix." His gimmick is his special holster in the small of his back. When the bad guys frisk him, they never feel it. Then later he gets the drop on 'em!

Check out the background music in this, it's got the hip, jazzy swing to it, LOL. Also that hard-boiled dialogue. And one of the eps has Donna Douglas in it before she was Elly May of "The Beverly Hillbillies," playing a femme fatale. I had to watch it twice before I recognized her.

There were 39 eps in all, most of which are on YouTube in a playlist. The second from last ep has the original commercials included (I love that too).

Thanks to user "Miksha Natali" for posting all those episodes for us to discover!
